Inteligencia Artificial para Salud "Perspectivas para diabetes mellitus y análisis de imágenes de ultrasonido pulmonar

En la actualidad existe gran interés en el desarrollo de algoritmos computacionales con aplicaciones al cuidado de la salud humana. En este seminario se abordarán dos temas de gran interés en el contexto actual de México y el mundo. Por un lado, se presentarán resultados relevantes en el uso de técnicas de inteligencia artificial (IA) para el análisis de imágenes de ultrasonido pulmonar (“Lung Ultrasound Imaging”) de pacientes con COVID-19. Los resultados preliminares presentados muestran el potencial y ventajas que ofrecen las técnicas de IA combinadas con LUS para el diagnóstico oportuno y seguimiento de pacientes con COVID-19. En la segunda parte de la plática se dará una perspectiva del uso de herramientas basadas en IA para el diagnóstico oportuno y seguimiento de pacientes con diabetes mellitus. Asimismo, se abordará como estas herramientas pueden ser utilizadas para detectar y atender oportunamente complicaciones causadas por la diabetes.

Despite increasing recognition of diferent foods and their safety, algae have received small interest in spite of their wide and abundant availability. Algae were one of the first life forms on Earth, and several thousand species existed. The present study aimed to characterize the nutraceutical properties and the antimicrobial effect of Moroccan Spirulina (Arthrospira platensis).The nutritional composition was evaluated, including wáter content, crude protein, total carbohydrates, lipids, phenolic composition, macro- and micromineral content, fiber content, and energy value. Then, the microbiological análisis and antioxidant activity were measured. The antimicrobial activity was evaluated using the mínimum inhibitory concentration method on bacteria and fungi. Moroccan Spirulina contained a large amount of protein (76.65 ± 0.15%), followed by carbohydrates (6.46 ± 0.32%), minerals (20.91 ± 0.88%), crude fiber (4.07 ± 1.42%), lipids (2.45 ± 0.82%), ash (14.56 ± 0.74), and twenty phenolic acids being identified and quantified. Moreover, flavonoid and phenolic contents were present at 15.60 ± 2.74 mg RE/g dw and 4.19 ± 0.21 mg GAE/g dw, respectively. Microbiological risk assessment indicated that this product is safe to be consumed as a human food product.  The antioxidant activity was higher in the methanolic fraction (23 mg TE/g dw) (DPPH).

Biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles employing Trichoderma harzianum with enzymatic stimulation for the control of Sclerotinia sclerotiorum

Nanoparticle synthesis using green synthesis offers better handling, less contamination, low cost, easy scaling in culture, and synergy with the host metabolites to use. Trichoderma harzianum has been shown to be a biocontrol agent against some pathogens that affect crops, so T. harzianum was used as a producer of silver nanoparticles, AgNP-T without stimulation of the cell wall of Sclerotinia sclerotiorum and AgNP-TS which were stimulated. Different analyzes were used to evaluate its control on S. sclerotiorum. The investigation consisted of 5 important steps. The biogenic synthesis of the nanoparticles using T. harzianum. Physicochemical assays for the characterization of the nanoparticles. Hydrolytic enzyme-specific activity assays. The determination of the biological activities of the nanoparticles towards S. sclerotiorum and effects on T. harzianum. The viability/cytotoxicity and genotoxicity assays using the nanoparticles. Statistical analyzes of the data used during the research were also carried out using a one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). They found that both AgNP-T and AgNP-TS could control the growth of S. sclerotiorum, however, the control was more efficient with AgNP-TS which could be attributable to the smaller hydrodynamic diameter of the nanoparticles. The green synthesis of nanoparticles used in the article offers positive results in the synthesis of nanoparticles in conjunction with the biomolecules involved by the organism.
